BIGGEST CAMP BEGINS
ELEVEN HUNDRED STRONG ADVANCE PARTY LEAVES Forming the biggest military encampment held in New Zealand, 1,100 men of the Ist Battalion Auckland Regiment will go under canvas next week. The advance party of 45 left for Hopa Hopa this morning. This battalion, which is numerically the strongest in the Dominion, will be carried by special train to Ngaruawahia on Wednesday morning. Lieutenant-Colonel T. H. Dawson will be commanding officer this year for the first time. Major N. L. Macky will be second in command, and Captain H. S. Harrison, camp quartermaster, with Captain J. G. C. Wales, of the permanent staff, as adjutant. The various company commanders will be: Major E. G. Baddeley, Headquarter Wing; Captain C. F. Seaward, A Company; Captain J. R. Gray, B Company; Captain W. G. Pratt, C Company (temporary command); Captain R. Tilsley, D Company; and Captain H. A. Wernham, E Company. Sergeapt-Major W. Landman, of the permanent staff, will again be Regimental Sergeant-Major.
