“DRESSED TO KILL”
MARY ASTOR’S ROLE Mary Astor has moved her makeup box to Fox Films’s studio, and started work in the feminine lead of “Dressed to Kill,’* directed by Irving Cummings. She was placed, under contract by Sol M. Wurtzel, general superintnedent of the Fox studios, on Wednesday, and went to work on Thursday. Miss Astor plays opposite Edmund Lowe in the role of an orchid girl in an underworld setting. Lowe portrays a Broadway crook. Others in the cast are Ben Bard, R. O. Pennell, Robert Perry, Billy Gould, Tom Dugan, Joe Brown, John Kelley, Robert O’Connor, and Ed Brady. “Dressed to Kill” is a masquerade of the underworld, written oy director Cummings and William Counselman. Howard Estabrook made the adaptation. Cummings explored the New York underworld for two weeks during a trip east to obtain firsthand data for his picture.
