“SWIM GIRL, SWIM”

BEBE DANIELS AT REGENT It is impossible to take Bebe Daniels seriously. Probably the little comedienne —and she IS a comedienne —would be the last to expect it. But for an evening's fun and hilarity, slip your arm in Bebe’s and accompany her at the New Regent through several hundred feet of “Swim, Girl, Swim!” In this latest comedy for Paramount, which was screened last night, the star is "co-starred” with Gertrude Ederle, vv bo, if she cannot claim to be an acof first rank, certainly has tire Channel swim to her credit. However, ih® picture is Hebe's —not the strapping Wong swimmer’s, whom the Americans affectionately, in their hero-worship-ping way, allude to as “Trudie.” Bebe Daniels on this occasion is cast as an unsophisticated college girl, wore interested in bug-hunting than in sport. Cupid, an unerring shot, sped an arrow on its way. Into the heart of the simple Alice Smith it landed. The cause of the riot was a young man with a smile which revealed a mouthful of excellent teeth, and an annoying habit of raising his eyebrows on the slightest provocalauon. The provocation, needless to • s jy, was invariably Alice. As love is '‘Und so *tis said. Alice did not appear to notice the eyebrows. One of the most amusing incidents in Jhe picture was when Alice lectured 'i the class on her favourite study—--Bugs.” Incidentally, she enticed a ;iueen bee from her duty, and brought enraged swarm upon the gathering. t\ ic ® was not precisely popular after this event.
