LATE MRS. C. G. BEALE

OVER 60 YEARS IN N.Z. Mrs. Catherine Griffiths Beale, widow of the late Dr. B. C. Beale, of Auckland, died last Monday at the age of 85. Born in England, Mrs. Beale was married at St. Pancras Church, London. in 1861, and came to New Zealand w'ith her husband in the ship. Sir George Pollock at the end. of the same year. She lived in many parts of New r Zealand and experienced many hardships and privations of the early days and during the Maori War. For a number of years before her death she lived at Avondale. Mrs. Beale is survived by three sons and two daughters. There are 11 grandchildren and two great-grand-children.

The funeral took place at Purewa Cemetery on Wednesday.
