SALVATION ARMY
NEW HALL AT GREY LYNN OPENING THIS WEEK-END ■During: the coming week-end Commissioner Jas. Hay, 0.8. E.. who is in charge of the Salvation Army activities in the Dominion, will perform the opening ceremony of the new Salvation Army hall erected in Richmond Avenue, Grey Lynn. The opening function will take place on Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock, the Commissioner being supported by Lieut.Colonel Toomer and Brigadier Scotney, the property secretary. The building will accommodate 175 persons, and has attached to It two rooms which will be utilised for Bible class rooms for the present. The full scheme to bo developed will Include two more halls for Sunday school and primary work later on. The property includes a two-storey house, which will be occupied by the officers in charge of the district; these are already in residence Captain Pearl Jans and Lieutenant Edith Mayfield. Commissioner Hay will continue the special services on Saturday night, when a thanksgiving service will be held, and on Sunday afternoon will give his lecture. “The World-wide Activities of the Salvation Army.” The chair will be taken by Mr. F. N. Burtram. MJP. Rallies for young people and services will be held during the following week.
