FUNERAL OF LATE MR. WHITE A LARGE CORTEGE About 50 motor cars formed the cortege of the late Mr. Percy White, who was drowned on Monday in saving the life of a small boy who fell from the Cornwallis wharf. The funeral was at Waikaraka Cemetery yesterday. The late Mr. White went to France YMhen only 18 years of age. He He had been promoted to corporal when wounded in the battle of Messines, both legs being broken. He was unable to take up his position with Mr. J. E. Cowell, ironmonger, of Onehunga, and helped his father to run his launches on the Manukau. Before the war Mr. White was a keen football piaster. He leaves a wife and two children, aged four and six years respectively. An inquest opened yesterday before Mr. D. Sutherland, J.P., was adjourned sine die.
