NO REBELLION
RUSSIAN DENIAL STORIES DISCOUNTED I By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 10.50 a.m. MOSCOW, Wed. The Foreign Office denies that there is a revolt in Southern Russia. Trairs are arriving from there regularly and passengers say that there is no foundation for the stories. —A. and N.Z. An earlier message from Constantinople stated: The Naval Attache at the Britis * Embassy, Captain C. D. Burke, has been informed by the Turkish authorities that the Russian ports in the Crimea have been closed by mines. The newspapers report an outbreak of revolution in South Russia, which is attributed to the peasants being dissatisfied with the prices the Soviet has fixed for cereals. It is believed the revolt is also receiving help from a number of officers and men of the Red Army who are supporting Trotsky. The Soviet Government is mobilising large military and naval forces to stamp out the rebellion.
