LATE MR. C. W. HEMERY

WELL-KNOWN INSURANCE MAN One of the oldest officers of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, Mr. Clement William Hemery, formerly well known in Auckland, his died in Melbourne. Born in the Island of Jersey in 1847, Mr. Hemery came to Melbourne in 1868 and later entered the society’s employment there. 1 He was cashier of the Victorian branch until 1883, when he was transferred to Auckland as agency clerk. Mr. Hemery succeeded the late Mr. D. J. McLeod as district secretary in Auckland in ISSS, and remained here until 1905, when he was transferred to Tasmania. In this city Mr. Hemery was prominent in church activities and he was treasurer of the Y.M.C.A. for many years.
