STORE LAMBS EASIER Press Association . CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. There was again an exceptionally heavy entry of store lambs at Addington today, and the prices of all classes in the store section eased. The dry, hot weather is showing no signs of breaking and this is restraining competition. Store Sheep.—The entry came from all Soints. Lambs were again down by about s a head and all but the best ewes by a similar amount. Forward crossbred lambs made 22s to 24s 6d; good rape lambs, 20s to 21s Dd; medium lambs, 27s 6d to 20s; small and inferior lambs, 12s 6d to 16s 9d; cull lambs, 9s 6d to 11s 6d; good halfbred wether lambs, 20s 4d to 23s 6d; medium halfbred lambs, 16s to 18s 9d; inferior halfbred lambs, 13s to 15s; four, six and eight-toothed crossbred ewes, 26s to 28s; inferior four, six and eight-toothed ewes, 19s to 22s 6d; sound and failing-mouthed ewes, 15s to 19s 6d; inferior failing-mouthed ewes, 10s to 14s 6d; cull ewes, 4s 6d to 7s 6d; four, six and eight-toothed Chatham Island wethers to 23s 6d; medium four, six and eight-toothed wethers, 18s 9d to 21s; four and six-toothed halfbred wethers, 19s 6d to 225; failing-mouthed halfbred wethers, 15s 6d to 17s 6d. Fat Lambs.—An entry of 3,500 head light and unfinished lambs predominated. There was a good sale at full 'schedule rates. Extra prime made 32s 6d to 34s lOd; prime, 2Ss 6d to 31s 6d; medium, 26s to 28s; light, 23s 6d to 25s 6d; and inferior, 21s to 235. Fat Sheep.—There was a heavy entry of 12 races, but only a small proportion of the entry was attractive. Good sheep sold at fully up to last week’s rates, but ewes were down by a shilling and were bought freely by exporters. Extra prime wethers brought up to 35s 7d; prime wethers, 30s to 32s 6d; medium wethers, 26s 9d to 29s 6d; light wethers, 22s to 265; extra prime ewes, 27s to 32s 1 Od; prime ewes, 22s to 265; medium ewes, lss to 21s; light ewes, 14s 6d to 17s 6d; old ewes, 12s to 14s. Fat Cattle. —Values for cows and heavy steers were easier by 20s a head, with prime medium weights about 10s down. Prime beef made 36s to 39s 6d a 1001 b; in a few cases to 41s; heavy, 31s to 345; medium quality, 33s to 355; ordinary cow, 26s to 29s 6d; and rough down to 22s a 1001 b. Extra heavy steers realised up to £lB 2s 6d; prime heavy steers, £ls to £l7, medium weight prime steers, £l2 to £ls; light steers, £8 to £11; extra prime heifers to £l4 2s 6d; prime heifers, £lO 6s to £l2 ss; medium heifers, £8 to £10; light heifers, £6 to £7 15s; extra prime cows to £l3 17s 6d; prime cows, £9 10s to £ll ss: medium cows, £6 10s to £9; aged and light cows, £4 to £6 ss. Vealers.—A good sale for all classes. Twelve to 18 months sorts up to £7 ss; vealers, £3 to £5 15s; others, 15s to £2 ss; small calves, 4s to 10s. Store Cattle. —An excellent especially for forward steers. Three and 4year steers, £9 to £lO ss; 2-year, £5 15s to £6 10s; yearling heifers, £3 15s; good cows, £3 10s to £5 ss. °*\ r ? Cattle.—A small entry sold readily. Good second to fourth calvers. .^ 14 ss; medium, £7 to £8 10s; best heifers, £7 10s to £lO 10s; others, to £6 10s; cows, in profit, £3 to £9 Fat Pigs.—There was a much better demand for all classes with an advance on the preceding sale of halfpenny a pound.
