“BRIGADIER GERARD"
COMING TO AUCKLAND Rod La Rocque’s«virile personality is ideally suited to the role of the swashbuckling brigadier of Conan Doyle’s novel, “The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard.” However, interpreting the feminine lead is pretty Phyllis Haver, and it has been said that she "steals” the picture, so appealing is she as the dainty heroine. The various adventures of this famous character in fiction are stirring and very thrilling, and laid in that time of action, the Napoleonic period, are full of colour and vividness. La Rocque is Gerard to the life, debonair and gay, but withal possessing the courage of the proverbial lion. His exploits, full of dash and daring and attended always with danger, will be followed with breathless interest. The photography and settings are above reproach, while the outstanding highlights of the production hold the interest and compel attention. A picture that is miles' above the usual fare offered to picture-lovers. This outstanding production is to be released through First National and will shortly be shown at the Princess and Tivoli.
