KEEN DEMAND—GOOD QUALITY FAIR AVERAGE PRICES Press Association. DUNEDIN, Tuesday. The second Dunedin wool sale of the season opened this evening, the catalogue comprising 27,286 bales. The sale will be continued to-morrow morning. As is usual at the second sale, much of the finer wool from the hills, was forward. It 'was lustrous, bright and sound, and some of the later shorn clips showed exceptional condition, owing to the good weather experienced at the time of shearing. Some of the best prices were:—Ordinary Merino, 22 d to 24d; half bred Merino, 26d; heavy-conditioned Merino, T 9 3d to 21d; pieces,’ 24d; good crossbred, up to 231 d. COMPANY MEETINGS WELLINGTON TRUST AND LOAN COY. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Trust, Loan and Investment Company, Ltd., in Wellington to-day, the following position was disclosed:— The sum to the credit of profit and loss on the year’s working, together with the amount of £4,056 7s 2d brought forward from the previous year (after payment of £IOO, directors’ bonus for the year 1926), amounts to £17,448 12s 2d, from which £4,375 has been paid as an interim dividend at the rate of 3£ per cent, for the half-year ended J,une 30, 1927, and provision has been made for loss on mortgages in deteriorated land area. The directors recommended that a further dividend be declared on the paid-up capital at the rate of 42j per cent, for the half year ended December 31, 1927, amounting to £5,625 (making 8 per cent, for the year), and that £1,500 be added to the reserve fund from the profits, making the latter £78,500, and the balance £4,291 2s 3d be carried forward. KELBURN CABLE TRAM The shareholders of the Kelburn and Karori Tramway Company, Ltd., running the Kelburn cable car service, will meet at Wellington on Friday. The directors’ report states: — The number of passengers carried during the year was 1,933,747 as .against 2,010,397 for 1926, being a decrease of 76,650. The traffic receipts for the year were £12,146 18s 6d, being a decrease of £627 4s 9d of that of the previous year. The amount to the credit of profit appropriation account is £6,199 ISs Sd. The directors recommend that it be allocated as follows: Dividend of 6 per cent., making 10 per cent, for the year, including 4 per cent, paid in July last, £1,800; transfer to reserve, £1,500; carried forward, £2,899 ISs Bd.
