DECREASE IN BIRTHS
JANUARY STATISTICS DEATHS INCREASE For the month of January Auckland vital statistics show an increase in the number of deaths, and decreases in the number of births and marriages compared with the same month in 1927. Deaths totalled 132, compared with 110, and births numbered 300, as against 330 for January last year. Marriage licences issued numbered 163, the marriages performed by the registrar totalling 40. In January last year 172 licences were issued and 48 marriages were performed by the registrar.
