A LTHOUGH not many followers of the light harness sport in Auckland would profit by the win of Lady Barrington in the Hawke’s Bay Cup on Saturday, the news of the mare’s victory was well received in local sporting circles, and her popular and painstaking owner-trainer J. H. Herring richly deserved the success that came his way. His perseverance with the aged daughter of Gold Bell has been rewarded in a fitting manner, as the mare also won a stake, at the recent South Wairarapa fixture. She is racing more generously of late and now that she has tasted the sweets of victory may continue to bring more grist to the mill.
