APPRENTICE JOCKEY IS RIDING WELL JAMIESON LEADS IN FIVE Once more J. T. Jamieson’s stable played a big part at Takapuna, the Takanini mentor leading .in five winners—Eden Hall, Mithra (twice), Ti Tree and the Immigrant. This easily placed him at the head of the winning list of trainers. F. Gilchrist, Ellerslie, up two winners, Judge’s Box and Winsome Boy and he was second on the list of successful trainers. Other trainers responsible for a winner apiece w*ere the following: W. Cunningham (Ellerslie), Cynthia N.; F. Smith (Takapuna), Uralla; J. H. Wallace (Te Aroha), Tea Time; W. Stone (Te Awamutu), Liaison; Jas. Clothier (Matamata), Red Comet; W. Townsenji (Pukekolie), Micrometer; J. Williamson (Ellerslie), Dave; and T. R. George (Ellerslie), Baby Bun. THE JOCKEYS Being associated with Jamieson’s stable was really responsible for the successful apprentice, T. Green, being at the head of the list of winning jockeys. He scored five wins, all from the Takanini stable, and in at least three out of five of his successes he outrode his opponents. L. Manson rode three winners (Cynthia N, Winsome Boy and Judge’s Box all the first day). S. Henderson piloted the winners of the first two races yesterday—Liaison and Red Comet—and K. Gill punched home Tea Time and Micrometer. With four jockeys coming home on no less than twelve winners there was verjr little left for the other horsemen. Those to score were L. Coleman, uralla; R. McTavish, Dave; R. J. Mackie, Desert Glow; and H. Wiggins, Babv Bun. REMINDERS Entries for the Wanganui autumn meeting close on Monday, January 30 at 8 p.m. The Te Aroha meteing is set down for February 25 and 27. Entries close at 5 p.m. on February 8.
