Pahiatua Fixture Opens To-Morrow FAIR FIELDS ENGAGED

REVIEW OF THE CARD The Pahiatua Racing Club’s annual meeting opens to-morrow and concludes on Thursday. A review of the first day’s card is given beThere is a big cro\yd in the Maiden, and there is very little form to go on. Hinekatorangi, Aro de Val and Aurora Borealis are a trio that have been shaping fairly welL On Trentham running it is hard to go past Horomea in the Ballance Highweight, for she shaped exceedingly

well. Moepai is reported as having done a nice preparation at Hastings. There are but five in the Hatnua Hack, and the Foxton double winner, Discourse, and Lieut. Bill appear to have it on the remainder. Once again Trentham form should be a reliable guide to the Pahiatua Cup. Royal Game failed at Foxton, but Oratrix shaped well in the big race the second day at Trentham and appears to have it on her opponents to-morrow. Kilmiss does not appear to have recovered from his disability, and Henna would be very dangerous if well ridden. Ardfinnan may not be good enough. Gaze is returning to form and if there is to be a surprise it may come from him. Bent does not seem good enough, and Capitulation, with a strong boy up, is a possibility. Lady Gay ran forward in one of the Trentham Highweights, finishing third on the second day, and of the bottom weights, Vigilance and Twink. the former is preferred. However, the filly claims three engagements. Oratrix, Henna *and Gaze appear to be the pick. Kindle and Lin Arlington will not lack support if started in the Konini Hack, although the latter claims a later engagement. There is a big field in the Makuri Hack, and a bad Aot they are, too.

VIGILANCE is in good form just now. She is in three races to-morrow. Doubtless Raukura and Moa Bird will be the public fancies. In the open sprint, the President’s Handicap, the top weight, Dobbin, has not got such a good field to beat as that he vanquished at Marton, and he will no doubt be a better first fancy than the hitherto disappointing Deluge. The Absurd gelding showed some signs of returning form in the earlv summer. The final event, the Ekatahuna Hack appears to lie between a couple of smart ones in Vigilance and Lin Arlington. acce Ptances for to-morrow are as follow: MAIDEN RACE Of £80; 6 furlongs.
