ANOTHER GROSE-BYRNES DUEL WADE WINS PROVINCIAL TITLE (From. Our Oxen Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. There was a good attendance at the sports meeting of the Te Awamutu Amateur Athletic Club, held at Te Awamutu on Monday. Despite the dry weaher the track was in good order, and some close and exciting finishes were witnessed. The Te Awamutu Municipal Band was in attendance, under the conductorship of Bandmaster McMahon. Chief interest in the sports centred in the further meeting of Grose and • Byrnes, the two crack amateur cyclists. In the mile Grose broke a chain, but in the two-mile event he and Byrnes fought out a great finish for second place. The three miles Auckland championship was won by J. H. Wade after a lively tussle with Byrnes.. Savidan, the New Zealand mile flat champion, was a competitor in the distance events, but he found the handicaps which he was called upon to concede too much for him.
