FIRE AT WAIUKU

OCCUPANTS’ HURRIED ESCAPE Awakened by smoke which filled his bedroom, Mr. George Burke was just in time to save his family from his burning house situated in Hulls Road, Waiuku, which was totally destroyed about one o’clock this morning. When the family went to bed at 10 p.m., that evening everything appeared to be in order. Mr. Burke was roused by choking smoke and had only enough time tb reach his children and bring them to safety before their room was swept by flames. He was unable to save any of his property. The origin of the outbreak is unknown. The house was covered for £550 in the Sun Insurance Office. No information is yet available as to the policy on the furniture.
