KAIRANGA COMING.—CabIe advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the cargo steamer Kairanga left Williams town last Saturday for Auckland, where she is due next Monday. AORANGI FOR SYDNEY.—In continuation of her voyage from Vancouver and way ports, the local office of the Cirion Company advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi leaves Auckland at 8 o’clock this evening fob Sydney. TAHITI LEAVES SAN FRANCISCO.— The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the R.MfS. Tahiti sailed from San Francisco at 2.15 p.m. last Wednesday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington, and Sydney. CANADIAN PROSPECTOR RETURNING.—At 9 o’clock this evening the Canadian Government Merchant Marine steamer, Canadian Prospector, is expected to leave Napier for Auckland. She is due here on Thursday morning, and will sail the same evening for Halifax, via New York and Boston. RIMUTAKA SAILS THURSDAY.— Now completing her loading at Auckland, the local office of the New Zealand Shippign Company advises that the departure of the liner Rimutaka from Auckland for Southampton and London, via Panama, has been fixed for 5 p.m. on Thursday next, February 2. HINEMOA LEAVES NORFOLK ISLAND.—Radio advice received by Spedding, Limited, states that the Government steamer Hinemoa sailed from Norfolk Island last evening for Auckland, where she is due on Thursday afternoon. The Hinemoa is scheduled to leave here again on Friday afternoon for Niue Island. GALLIC TO COMPLETE.— To complete her loading, the Shaw, Savill. and Albion steamer GaJlis is due at Auckland to-morrow evening or Thursday morning from Gisborne. L. D. Nathan and Co., the local trading agents, hope to dispatch the vessel on February 9 for New York, Halifax, and West of England ports, via Panama. WAIPAHI’S PROGRAMME.—The local office of the Union Company advises that the Island fruit steamer Waipahi is due at Suva to-morrow from Sviney and i leaves on Thursday for Auckland, whore she is due on February 8- From here the vessel proceeds to Newcastle, thence‘Sydwhere she leaves on Februarv 21 for Fiji, taking transhipments for Tonga and Samoa. NORTHUMBERLAND DUE THURSDAY.—Leaving New Plymouth early this morning for Auckland, the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Northumberland is due here on Thursday morning to continue her loading. PORT MELBOURNE’S ITINERARY.— Tlie Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company advises the following itinerary of the C. and D. Line’s steamer Port Melbourne, which arrived at Napier at 1.30 p.m. yesterday from Sydney. The vessel commences loading at Napier, then proceeds to Waikokopu, thence Gisborne and Auckland. She is due here on Februarv 10 and leaves again on February 13 for Isew Plymouth, thence Wellington, to complete loading. The Port Melbourne is scheduled to sail Anally from Wellington on February 20 for London, via Panama. BRANDING OF ELBERFELD.—The stranding of the valuable North German Lloyd steamer Elberfeld near Cape Trafalgar is commented on in the shinpmg Press. It is assumed that the casualty was due to a mistake in identifymg the lighthouses at Cape Trafalgar and Cape Tarifa. The flash of the lighthouse at Cape Trafalgar has recently been altered, and probably the new flash was only operating on the night of the loss for the first or second time. The vessel was at New Zealand three months ago, and after discharging and loading sailed finally from Auckland for London. She then loaded at Glasgow, Avonmouth and Liverpool, sariing finally from the last-named port on Christmas Eve, December 24. She experienced very fair weather for the voyage, which was uneventful. The Cambridge arrived at Colon on Januarv 8 and cleared Balboa two days later. She brought a stowaway, who stowed on at Panama.
