THREAT TO JUGO SLAVIA
SIX MONTHS TO CHANGE POLICY ITALY’S ATTITUDE By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. ROME, Sunday. The “Foglio'i D’Ordnini" in which Fascist official communications appear, publishes a note declaring that Italy has postponed for six months its denunciation of the Italo-Jugoslav treaty of friendship as a proof of Italy’s good faith, despite the fact that Jugoslavia during the past four years has not displayed goodwill. On the contrary, the note continues: “It has taken every opportunity to organise anti-Italian and anti-Fascist demonstrations. “Even politicians' speeches and the newspapers have unanimously calumniated the Italian army and people. The Jugo-Slav Army was prepared directly against Italy. Jugo-Slav imperialism claims Italian territory from Pola to Udine. “Jugo-Slav Italophobia reached a paroxysm after the signing of the Franco-Jugo-Slav treaty. “Jugo-Slavia has now six months to give a new turn to its policy toward Italy, that great nation, which can wait, not fearing events of the future."—A and N.Z. Pola was formerly the chief naval station of Austria-Hungary, and is situated on the Adriatic, about bo miles from Trieste. Its harbour, one of the finest in Europe, can accommodate a big fleet, and is well fortified. Udine, which is a province of Northeastern Italy, borders on Austria and the Adriatic Sea.
