Cricketer Chases the Limited in Pyjamas Stranded in Taumarunui in a pyjama suit —that was the horrible thought that was conjured up in Jim McEwin’s mind when the Canterbury cricketers were on their w*ay home from Auckland. The Main Trunk express drew into Taumarunui at 1.30 a.m., and McEwin, clad only in his pyjama suit and bare feet, descended from the sleeper and investigated the refre. f.ment room. As he w-as there the train moved off. Flinging a half-a-crown on the counter and, without waiting for change, he seized a cup of tea, which was minus sugar and milk, and sprinted after the train, dexterously balancing the cup. Just as the last carriage moved from the end of the platform, he made a dive and caught it, this event being preceded by an agonising moment as the possibility of having to chase the train in bare feet over the rough stones of the permanent way intruded itself.
