BACK FROM BRAZIL.—Mr. Lloyd George, who, with his family, has been on a visit to Brazil, has returned to London.- A. and N.Z. CONTRACT FOR BRITAIN.—A Birmingham firm has obtained a contract for 50 coaches for the South African Railways, to cost £170,000. There was keen competition from Continental firms, including Belgian and German manufacturers.—A- and N.Z. ‘'PRINCE TOMISLAV.”—The infant son of King Alexander and Queen Mari© of Yugoslavia, who was born on January 19, has been named Tomislav, after the first Croat king, 925 A.D. The Prince was baptised in water brought from the Danube, Save and Vardar Rivers.—A. and N.Z. BITTEN BY MAD DOG.—The mother, aged 85 yea.vsi, and the younger sister of M. Maniu, Leader of the Hungarian National Peasant Party, were bitten by their house watchdog, which suddenly went mad. They were taken to the Pasteur Institute at Kelozsvar.—A. and N.Z. ATLANTIC FLIER GAOLED.—A message from Naugatuck, Connecticut, states that Bert Acosta, the famous transatlantic ariman who accompanied Commanded* Byrd on his flight to Paris, has been sentenced to five days’ gaol. He was convicted of violating the State law against low flying. —A. and N.Z. wireless v. cables.— sir John Pomaon- Pender and Admiral Grant attended the corference called by the British Cabinet to consider the competjaon between wireless and cables. *ney informed the conference regardthe position of the Eastern and Associated companies.—A. and N.Z.
