For Auckland, Finney and Cowie made a CTeat stand for the last wicket, and the latter twice lifted Elliott out of the ground. Finney, who is the youngest member of the Auckland team very strong on the on side. Just when they looked likely to head the v\ ellington total Cowie was run out through attempting to steal a run for a hit straight to cover. A more vigorous policy, with the idea of brightening up cricket, was announced by Lord Hawke at the Yorkshire Club’s annual meeting. Ha said that play during the coming season will be brightened without recklessness or jeopardising the team's chance of victory.
