SEE MORE AT CHELTENHAM

COUNCILLOR LfiCES BEAUTY The Devonport Borough Council was requested last evening to take action regarding the exhibition of posters by a picture theatre company depicting a beach scene in rather overstressed tones. The writer, who made the complaint, described the poster as immoral. The Mayor: “Have any of the councillors seen the poster? I saw the picture and I did not see anything to object to.” Cr. Lyon: “Yes! I saw it, and admired it. You can see mare at Cheltenham any day.” Cr. Massey: “You may see more at Cheltenham than you can see in Queen Street.” Cr. Lyon: “3 do not know.” Mr. Aldridge: “Well, seeing that Devonport is a seaside resort, we can hardly protest about posters of beach scenes.” It was decided that as the picture had been already exhibited and sent from Auckland, it was too late to do anything now.
