MAORI PAGEANT TO BE BROADCAST
PRIME MINISTER TO ASSIST (Special to THE SUX € ) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A programme, unique in the radio history of New Zealand, will be heard by listeners on Monday, February 6, when, in pursuance of the policy of making 1928 a New Zealand year, the broadcasting company has arranged to broadcast from the three main stations a pageant which will depict the hi? - tory, life and customs of *he Maoris. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and the Hon. Sir Maui Pomare will assist in the programme, which probably will be rebroadcast throughout Australia, The performers, who have come from the Wanganui district, have spent much time rehearsing items, no trouble having been spared to make the pageant quite the largest venture so far atempted by the company. The performance will take place at the studio of 2YA, and will be rebroadcast from Auckland and Christchurch station. The Dunedin station may also co-operate and it is unlikely that Australian stations which have been advised of the broadcast will miss the opportunity of presenting to their hearers such an unusual programme. On Tuesday. February 7, the same programme will be repeated, starting at 11 p.m. for the benefit of overseas listeners.
