FLYING THE TASMAN
AUSTRALIA’S ATTITUDE MR. BRUCE’S STATEMENT By Association. — Copyright. CANBERRA, Wednesday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Bruce, has made an official announcement of the Government’s attitude toward oversea flights. He says he would remind those desirous of organising ill-advised attempts that unless the aircraft and crew are considered by the Defence Department to be adequate to ensure a reasonable prospect of success, all possible action will be taken to prevent the undertaking, and all the powers vested in the Federal Government will be involved to penalise an unauthorised flight. On the other hand, it the Government is satisfied that the machine is suitable, and that all other conditions and regulations have been complied with, the Government is prepared to afford encouragement and reasonable assistance in the enterprise.—A. and N.Z.
