BARKER WINS 880YDS An evening sports meeting consisting of athletic and cycling events, controlled by the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, was held on the Domain last night. The meeting w’as controlled In t very lackadaisical way, owing mainly to the fact that there was no startingpistol and races had to be got away with the whistle. Only seven started out of a field of 20 in the 100 yards, and in the half-mile L. C. Barker showed a great deal of pace and came In to win easily. The following were the results: 100yds Handicap.—R. Willey. SJyds, 1; A. J. Elliott, scr, 2; J. L. McCoy. 2}yd.-. 3. Seven started. Won by inches, with a foot between second and third. No time was taken 880yds. Handicap.—L. C. Barker. 38yds. 1: T. E. Taylor, 30yds, 2: W. T. Bray, 20yds. 3. Won easily. Time, 34 2-ss. Final: IL. Dwight, 1; W. Dwight, 2; G. W. Rollerstonfi 3. Won by two lengths. Time, 33 2-ss. “De’il Bak* the Tir‘most” Scratch Race.—M. P. Byrnes, 1. A. W. Pinker, 2. There were 12 starters in this event. When the bell rang 10 laps had been covered, leaving only Bjmes and Pinker to fight out the finish. The former won easily by three lengths.
