Money Order Well Ridden Is Good Winner

Hynanna and Goshawk Score in the Handicaps WELLINGTON MEETING CONCLUDES "WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The W'elling-ton Racing Club concluded its summer meeting at Trentham to-day, when there was again a large attendance. The weather was fine and the track was hard and dry. The totalizator investments for the da,y totalled £58,413 10s, against £59,221 on the corresponding day last year. For the meeting the total was £193,645 10s, against £185,357 10s last year, an increase of £8,288. Notes on the racing and details of concluding results are as follow: THE FAVOURITE WINS First Sight was a very warm favourite for the Wallaceville Highweight Handicap, and he pulled his backers through very easily. Greencloth led to the straight from Flying Shot, Hut at the distance First Sight came through and went on to win by two lengths from Historic, who beat Star God by a head, while Greencloth was fourth. GREENGROCER FINISHES WELL Arikiwai was made as hot a favourite for the Kelburn Handicap as First Sight was for the opening event, but he was beaten. Some Lad and Polydectes were the leaders to the straight, where Axikiwai was third and Greengrocer last. Arikiwai took charge at the distance, but Greengrocer collared him quickly and beat him home by a length and a-half. Two lengths further away came Capitulation and then Some Lad. FULL FEATHER ALL THE WAY Concentrate was always favourite for the Hopeful Stakes, but several others were well backed- The big field came on to the course proper in

a body and Full Feather soon took charge, but had to be kept at it to win by half a length from Miss Ransom, who was at extreme odds. Concentrate got to within a length of the second horse and - Dumblane was fourth. WAYWARD AGAIN The Swell was a decided favourite for the Melrose Handicap. Kaliu Ariki went out with a big lead, and led to the straight from Wayward, who took charge at th© distance and won by a length from Spean Bridge, who beat Kahu Ariki by half a length for second place. Spearmiss was fourth, Bronstell fifth and The Swell sixth. Wayward had bolted in the morning, and this fact caused the public to go off him, hence his fine price again today. GOSHAWK SPRINGS A SURPRISE There was another shock for the big backers in the Summer Handicap. Following the Jamieson stable, In the Shade was made favourite, but he failed to survive a pretty stiff test. The early pacemakers were Goshawk, Joy King and Paperchase, while Duke Abbey, who is generally restless while Waiting for the release, was slow to get away. Goshawk was in front after the early part, and at the five-furlongs was attended by Paperchase, Joy King, Set Sail, In the’Shade and !pady Limond. In practically this order the field came info the home stretch, and although challenged by first one horse and then another, Goshawk held his advantage to beat Joy King by half a length. Paperchase was a similar distance away third, and then came Alyson, Set Sail, Lady Limond, Ring Boy and Duke Abbey, very little separating this unplaced division. Goshawk proved that he was most unlucky to be beaten in the Douro Cup. HYNANNA STANDS OUT Doree was a big favourite in the Consolation Handicap, and Hynanna and Overhaul were best backed of the others. Front Rank, Doree and Gala Day were in front along the back from Hynanna, and these were still in the lead approaching the straight, while Thorndale was with Hynanna. Thorndale took charge at the distance, but in a great finish Hynanna proved too

good and won by a head. Vertigern was a fair third. Front Rank fourth, and Oratrix fifth. Overhaul got a poor run and finished eighth. GREEN BRINGS MONEY ORDER HOME The Hawk, Crown ’Area, Cimabue and Money Order were evenly backed in the City Handicap,. Crown Area being the actual favourite. Cimabue went out fast and led on to the course from The Hawk and Money Order. Money Order got the leader a furlong from home, and won by a neck from

Cimabue, with The Hawk two lengths away. Then came Rascal and the favourite, who was well beaten. BIG DIVIDEND TO FINISH WITH The Raider and Solgele were among those well backed in the Kaitoke Handicap, but once more a big dividend was hoisted. Solgele looked a winner. at the distance, but was»not good enough, and Sky quest came away to winby a length from Eliminator, while Solgele, Le. Champ „ and Par Money did best of the others. The winner gave a fine double figure return.
