“Hangers-On” Fined

CYCLISTS AND VEHICLES DANGEROUS TOWING When 15 defendants, ill riders *_if bicycles, paraded before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., this morning, charged with holding on to moving vehicles, Mr. R. Hogan, chief traffic inspector, commented on the seriousness of the practice. “This is a dangerous habit,” he said, “and is often the cause of accidents. We have rounded up the delinquents, as our warnings have not proved effective.” The magistrate said it seemed apparent that people did not realise the seriousness of the offence. All defendants would be fined, and chat would perhaps have an effect where warnings had failed.
