CHARGES AGAINST WOMAN STATE SECRETARY By Cable. —Preaa Association. — Copyright. NEW YORK, Sunday. A message from Albany, New York State, says the most serious charges of malfeasance to be made against a woman since power to hold office has been granted to women in America have been lodged against Mrs. Florence Knapp, dean of the college of home economics of Syracuse University, and former secretary to the State of New York. The commissioner who is investigating: the charges recommends that she be criminally prosecuted. He alleges that she Illegally disbursed £23,600 and wasted nearly £16,000 in her administration of the census funds. The charges include nepotism (favouring relatives) and the giving away of State funds, which ultimately were traced back as haring been in her possession.—A. and N.Z.
