BIG CROWDS HONOUR MEMORY OF LENIN
DEATH CHAMBER PROCESSION By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Sunday. The Moscow correspondent of the “Daily News” says the immense crowds which were commemorating the fourth anniversary of the death of Lenin WEUted in a bitter frost in the Red Square outside Lenin’s wooden mausoleum. They were shepherded by sentries through underground passages to the red-walled death Chamber, which was crudely lighted by torches. This bizarre Illumination showed the ashen features of the corpse of Lenin lying on a red couch encased in glass Kalinin and other prominent people entered sileirtly. Kalinin said to his comrades: “At this moment four years ago our beloved leader left us. Letters stand to honour his undying memory.” The vast audience rose up as the orchestra played a dirge. When the dirge swelled to its final crescendo the pictures on the stage illustrating the triumph of the revolution disappeared and were replaced by an illuminated portrait of Lenin several times life-size. A further transformation revealed a huge bust of Lenin, which was guarded by Red officers with drawn swords, under tattered red banners.—Times-Sun.
