Gave Her Life to Save Child

WOMAN’S HEROIC ACT DEATH FROM INJURIES Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. To-day. To the list of those who have given their lives that others might be saved must be added the name of Mrs. Gertrude Taylor. Mrs. Taylor died in the Christchurch Hospital yesterday from shock and injuries tc ner head. The fatal injuries were received on January 10 in a gallant attempto to save a child from being run over by a tramcar in Lincoln Road. The evidence at the inquest showed that she was 66 years of age and had* been in charge of the child, which was deaf. The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death, adding: “The nobility of Mrs. Taylor’s death must. 1 feel sure, assuage the grief of her relatives. "
