DEATH OF MR. W. N. GAMBLE
PROMINENT BUSINESS MAN A prominent figure in Auckland financial circles for almost a quarter of a century, Mr. William Nelson Gamble died at his • Takapuna residence yesterday afternoon. Born in New Jersey, U.S.A., Mr. Gamble came to New Zealand as a lad. He first held varying positions for the firm of L. D. Nathan and Coy., Ltd., until nearly 25 years ago when he started as a stock and sharebroker in this city. During that time he built up a wide connection and -won the esteem of all with whom he came in contact. He is survived by a widow, two daughters, and two sons, Mr. John Gamble who is abroad in the East, and Mr. William Gamble, of Auckland. REFERENCE ON ’CHANGE For many years up till the time of his death Mr. Gamble was a member of the committee of the Auckland Stock Exchange. Feeling reference to his'death was made by the chairman, Mu. G. C. Creagh, this morning in moving a motion of condolence with the relatives. “You will all have heard with the deepest regret of the death of our late member, Mr. Gamble,” said Mr. Creagh. His illness was long: and trying, but was borne with fortitude and cheerfulness which won for him the respect and admiration of all who came in contact with him during the past few months. “A man of singularly unassuming disposition. he had, I believe, no enemies, but by his kindly nature, won for himself the affectionate esteem of all his associates.”
