Chamber of Death Built By Suicide
MONTHS OF WORK STRANGE STORY FROM PRUSSIA By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. At Krefeld, in Prussia, after pondering suicide for weeks, a barber laboriously constructed a dug-out, roofed with sandbags. He constructed a wooden stairway and revetted the sides with sandbags. When he was satisfied the place was airtight, he placed three pounds of calcium carbine in a pail, fixed a drip-feed from a water-can overhead, retired to his bunk, and was asphyxiated. A letter which he left stated that the construction Of the death-chamber occupied months of his spare time. # It was expressly designed with a purpose of suicide. —A. and N.Z.
