TAMAKI ROADING

ST. HELIERS APPREHENSIONS SEAFRONT EXTENSION WANTED The Tamaki Towr. Board is becomconcerned with the possible exclusion of St. Heliers from the development likely to result from the completion of the waterfront roadway now being constructed to Orakei and Mission Bay. In a letter to the City Council last •veiling they pointed out that if tho roadway was a continuous one to St. neliers development would spread over the whol© district, while the road would give direct access to Glendowie. *“• board expressed the opinion that the road round Gower’s Point was of the greatest importance, and the sum of f 5,918 was available for this work. The board inquired if the city would agree to them undertaking the v/ork, Md if the council would complete it the district merged with the wty. The city engineer reported that prowßion was made for an extension of the proposed road through the MissMm Bay estate from which a wellformed road connected with Kohiwhich in turn connected with Heliers, though there was a steep grade. The question of continuing the •-trand, St. Heliers, round to Glendowie was one that should not be aattled until a complete investigation made of roading in the district, *nd this .would be done when Tamaki mapped for the preparation of UM» town-planning scheme. The Works Committee will report the position.
