He also holds two lives in the champion singles, and played off on Wednesday for the green winner in the pairs. He won the Dominion pairs with his oresent lead, McCallum, in 1923. In M. Maxwell Walker’s game against an Edgeware rink last Tuesday, the Christchurch team were well down on the board to the Ponsonby team, and the lead of the opposing team suggested laughingly that the professor leave toe five lying shots against him, adding: “They look too pretty to spoil.” Walker agreed, saying: “You’re on.” When the head was played Pcnsonby were five down.
