Cheese is quiet, w'ith New Zealand at 90s and Australian at 88s. In an interview a leading importer attributed the unsatisfactory butter position partly to the disuse of preservatives. as owing to the poor keeping quality of the butters, retailers were only buying from hand-to-mouth, showing preference to fresher-made Continentals. Some importers were -Advising producers to urge the Australian Government to ask tie British Government to remove the ban on the use of preservatives. English and Scottish cream producers, who are suffering similarly, have already approached the Ministry of Health with the same object.—A. and *Y.Z.-Sun.
