PALESTINE ORANGES FOR AUCKLANDERS
TRIAL SHIPMENT ARRIVING A further market is being drawn upon to meet the fruit requirements of Auckland. The Ulimaroa from Sydney next week brings to hand a consignment of oranges grown and packed in Jaffa, Palestine. Comprising approximately 2,000 cases, the consignment, it is stated, will be the first lot of Jaffa oranges to find its way into New Zealand waters. The bulk of New Zealand’s oranges are drawn from the Islands, while many thousands of cases come from California annually.
Should the Jaffa shipment prove a success, importers here will place further orders, with the result that the money will go to producers labouring under the British flag* _
