SHEFFIELD SHIELD GAME

SOUTH AUSTRALIA’S VICTORY By Cable.—Press Association. Copyright. BRISBANE, Wednesday. , The Sheffield Shield cricket match between Queensland and South Australia, in which the former team made 143 runs in its first innings, was continued to-day. Queensland, in its second innings, made 351 (Thompson, 93; O’Connor, not out, 133). Bowling for South Australia, Scott took four wickets for 71 runs and Grimmett three for 98. South Australia, which in its first innings made 505 runs, won outright by an innings and 11 runs. The weather was fine and the wicket still good, but the cricket was very dull. The rate of scoring was slower even than on the previous day. Toward the close of his innings O’Connor livened up and ma<)e several good boundary shots, otherwise the innings was colourless.—A. and N.Z.
