“WATER RATIONING”

NEWMARKET’S PROTEST A protest against the necessity of having the water supply rationed each summer was made by the Newmarket Borough Council last evening, when a letter was received from the Auckland City Council asking the Borough Council to co-operate in restricting the use of hoses for garden purposes and motor-car cleaning. The Mayor, Mr. Donaldson, said that the council would do as requested, but he thought a protest should oe made against the necessity for rationing of water, more especially when outside bodies had been denied the right of organising their own supplies.
