AN ANGRY FIREMAN SHIP’S CAPTAIN ASSAULTED FOOD ON HIS HEAD A militant protest against the food served on the s.s. Nile was made by a member of the crew yesterday, when he threw his dinner over the captain's head. At the Police Court to-day, fames Meeks, a fireman, aged 40, pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting the captain, Alexander McKenzie. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that accused went on to the bridge and complained to the captain about the food. The captain replied that he ate the same himself, and accused then threw the food over the captain’s head. He was fined 40/-, r # nd ordered to be placed on board the ship when she sails to-morrow.
