PLATE RACKS
An excellent idea for the scullery is a folding plate rack which takes twenty plates or saucers and has a zinc tray beneath for cups. It is intended for use when washing up> and not only drains the dishes, but prevents them getting chipped or cracked against the hard surface of the sink. This rack can be hung on the wall or put to stand anywhere. It folds up quite flat when not wanted and is made of whitewood and rustless wire. Another good plate rack looks like a rabbit hutch, having a flat top with wooden bars at each side. This rack holds twenty-four plates and three dishes. It is made to stand, but can be hung on the wall if preferred that way. There is a cheap whitewood rack for pan lids that would be useful in any kitchen. It is simply two fiat pieces of wood with the points almost meeting at the ends. These pieces are connected by crossbars at the top and bottom, and there are six pegs at either side. Pan lids of various sizes can be supported by the pegs.
