MANY MOTORISTS FINED HEAVY DAY IN CITY COURTS Nearly 200 motorists who had ignored the traffic regulations during the holiday period paid the price of their folly at the Police and Magistrate’s Courts to-day. A number of negligent driving cases were heard in the Police Court, and fines up to £3 were imposed. Twenty-three were fined 10s for leaving cars unattended in Queen Street. Twenty-five were fined 10s and 20s for not having their cars lighted at night. In the Magistrate’s Court the City Council prosecutions were heard, but these were more varied, no type of offence being predominant numerically. The fines imposed ranged from 10s to £3.
