CRIMINAL SESSIONS
LARGE NUMBER FOR TRIAL SITTING OPENS FEBRUARY 7 Opening on Tuesday, February 7, the first quarterly criminal sessions of the Auckland Supreme Court promise to be rather heavy. Up to the present 15 cases have been set down for trial, and there is still three weeks before the sessions begin. The total at the first session of 1927 was 26. So far there is a predominance of sexual cases, the offences being mostly against young girls. There id one ot attempted murder, one of bookmaking, and the unusual charge of theft against a woman. Mr. Justice Reed will preside at the sessions, and the second Judge has not yet been notified. The names of the accused persons and the charges are as follow: Leslie Bertram Dawson, indecent assault, Auckland. . _ Harry Marks, bookmaking, Auckland. John Charles Kempthorne, indecent assault and attempted carnal knowledge, Auckland. ✓ . , .. Thomas Donovan, indecent assault on male, Auckland. , _ . William Henry Swift Part.cn, breaking, entering and theft, Auckland. Arthur Edward Hill, fcieaking, entering and theft, Auckland. Bo Griffiths, alias Ray, alias Reid, theft from person. Auckland. John Edwin Robinson, attempted carnal knowledge, Auckland, William Henry Grant, assault causing actual bodily harm, Auckland. Harry Collins, Patrick Kelly, and William Martin, breaking, entering and theft. Auckland. . _ . Ivy Hazel Kite, alias Ross, breaking, entering and theft, Auckland. Emil Blaaum, indecent assault and indecent act, Auckland. Lawrence Mackenzie, causing grievous bodily harm, and attempted murder, Uren Thomas, theft, Auckland. Edward James Euesden, theft, Auckland.
