At the wool sales 8,439 bales were offered, of which 6,371 were Australian and 1,368 New Zealand. There was a large a ttendance. All sections were strong, and there was all-round competition. Yorkshire was most active. Continentals were rather less active than recently. Of Merinos there was an excellent selection. Greasy were from par to i per cent, above the December closing values. Scoured were practically unchanged, but occasionally a shade easier. Crossbreds met with the keenest competition, and made an all-round advance of 10 per cent. Lambs were tlrm. New Zealands: Tarata, 23id tup, 22d average; Pare 26d, 23d; Tyo, 40d.—A. and N.Z. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile vrency Company, Ltd., have received the Allowing table from their London house, iatwl January 17.—There was a full atjndance at the opening of the sales to'iay. competition by Home and Continental buyers being keen and prices as -ompared with the close of the precedes series ruled 5 per cent, higher for Merinos, 10 per cent to 15 per cent, higher for medium greasy crossbred and ’ per cent, higher for fine greasy crossed.
