SHEFFIELD SHIELD
QUEENSLAND FAR BEHIND By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. BRISBANE. Tuesday. The Sheffield Shield cricket match. Queensland v. South Australia, in which Queensland made 143 runs in its first innings, was continued to-day. South Apstralia, which had lost six wickets for 438, took its score to-day to 505. For Queensland Hornibrook took two wickets for 123 runs, Amos three for 127, Nothling two for 59. Queensland, in the second innings, made 188 for five wickets (Thompson 69 not out, O’Connor 54 not out). The weather was fine and the wicket good. The South Australians scored at a painfuly slow rate and the dreary cricket continued until the luncheon interval, when the Southerners were all dismissed. The Queensland batsmen opened their second innings carefully, but the bowling of the visitors was too good, and wickets fell rapidly until Thompson and O’Connor were associated. Failing light caused an early cessation of play.—A. and N.Z.
