GREEN VEGETABLES SHORT FRUIT OFFERING FREELY Supplies of most N.Z. fruits are coming forward freely cn to the market, and prices have an easing tendency. Onions, cucumbers, and even potatoes at the moment are heavily supplied... G.*een vegetables, such as cabbages, owing to the dry weather, are not so plentiful. MOST varieties of X.Z.-grown stone fruits are coming forward freely at the moment. Cape gooseberries, raspberries and black currants also meet with a steady sale. Heavy supplies of outdoor tomatoes are coming forward, and values have declined sharply over the last week. New Zealand cooking and dessert apples are also easing in price as supplies increase. Stocks of bananas are low on the spot and high values rule. In the field and garden produce section, most varieties of vegetbales meet with a steady demand. A falling-off in supplies of green vegetables has seen a corresponding hardening in values. Little movement is registered in the egg and butter market., end eggs 3till bring low values. Prices under the hammer at to-day’s auctions in the City Marts ranged as follows: FRUIT Apples.—Winesaps, 12s to 15s a case; Astrachan, os to 7s 3d; Astrachan, small, 2s 6d to 3s; Oravensteiu, to 8s; cookers, 3s to 5s 6d. Strawberries.—9d to Is 3d a chip. Tomatoes.—Hothouse, Is 6d to 5s 6d a case; outdoor, 2s to 3s. Plums.—Sultans, fs to 10s a case; Angelina, 6s to 12s; Salsumas, 5s to 6s 6d; Black plums, 6s to 7s; Burbanks, 3s to os 6d. Apricots.—Choice, Ss to 11s a case; small. 4s to 6s 6d. Black Currants.—9s a case. Raspberries.—Bs to js a tin (about 121 b). Peaches. Choice coloured, 7s to Ss a case, others 4s 6d to 6s; cooking-, 4s 9d to 5s 6d. Lemons.—lss to 24s a case.
