U.S. SENATE FAVOURS TARIFF REDUCTIONS
REPUBLICANS JOIN DEMOCRATS IN VOTE TO ADOPT SCHEME By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 11.40 a.m. WASHINGTON, Mon. The United States Senate went on record as favouring a reduction in the existing Republican tariff schedules. The Senate adopted the McMaster resolution, stating that such a revision should be made to establish argiculture on a basis of equality with industry. The vote was 54 to 34. Twelve MidWestern Republicans joined with the almost solid Democratic forces to secure the adoption of the resolution, these being Senators Blaine, Borah, Crookhart, Capper, Frazier, Howell, Da Follette, McMaster, Norbeck, Norris, Nye, Pine. Only two Democrats voted against the resolution.—A. and N.Z.
