LONELY MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE
CHARGE AT HAMILTON (From Oiir Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Monday. A conviction was entered, and accused was ordered to pay medical expenses, this morning, when a charge of attempted suicide was preferred against Victor Allwood Walmsley Hellings, aged»s2 years. It was stated that accused was a sawmill hand at Otorohanga, and in a fit of despondency following a drinking bout made an attempt to take his life by cutting his. throat and stabbing himself in the chest. He was found wandering 12 miles from Otorohanga. Accused, who is a native of Ireland, said his head was affected as a result of war service, and he was driven by tiio loneliness of the place to attempt suicide.
