Word has been received in Sydney that Captain Kingsford Smith and his companions have abandoned their proposed flight from America to Australia owing to a lack of finance. —A. and N.Z. SAN FRANCISCO, Saturday. Rain and a sodden field forced the postponement of Captain Kingsford Smith’s attempt to break the endurance record yesterday. He hopes to start on Monday.—A. and N.Z. ENDURANCE FLIGHT CHAMBERLIN FAILS AGAIN NEW YORK, Saturday. The airmen, Clarence Chamberlin and Roger Williams, failed in an attempt to establish a new world’s record for a duration flight. They were forced to descend to-day after being aloft for 51h. 54m.—A. and N.Z. AIRWAY FACILITIES WASHINGTON, Saturday. The Senate has received from Mr. Coolidge a request for £95,000 for additional air navigation facilities next year. It Is proposed that the Department of Commerce will use the funds to provide 2,500 or more miles of lighted airways for night flying, and to improve radio services and air mail facilities.—A. and N.Z. FLIGHT TO CAPETOWN VAN LEAR BLACK AGAIN By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Saturday. Mr. Van Lear Black, the Baltimore newspaper proprietor, who last year flew nearly 50,000 miles over Europe and Asia, has chartered a Dutch air liner to fly from London to Capetown and back. He will have as pilots the two Dutchmen who accompanied him on his former flights.—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
