A grim discovery of what is believed to have been a death pact between two people who rented a house at Lyall Bay as “Mr. and Mrs. Rawlins,” was made at about six o c l° c k on Saturday evening, when their dead bodies were discovered in bed with the arms of the one clasped round the other Death was caused through gas poisoning. The tragic discovery was first made by the owner of the property. The names of the dead are: Harold Wilson, aged 30, formerly a resident of gasman Street, and thought to be a baker by occupation. Ivy Walton, aged 17, a resident of Miramar. The house, which was already furnished, was rented l'or three weeks on December 22 by the two deceased, who told the owner they required it for an uncle and aunt from Palmerston North. Wilson paid the rent in advance, paying an additional 10s a week on what the owner was asking. The couple, however, did not take possession of the house until early in the New Year and their tenancy ex-pi-ed on Thursday last, January 12. On the morning of that day the following note was received by the owner through the post: “Will call and leave keys at your oflice on Thursday evening—Sincerely, Rawlins.” No key was left, and on Saturday the owner went round to the post office where
